You might expect me to recommend some hot new South American salsa band or a new talent from Baranquilla like Shakira eh? (My cousin Ernesto knows her, she is apparently a very nice girl, very humble – but not in those videos eh?). But I’m going to surprise you. Here is a little story. The other night Eduardo loco was down in the entertainment room persuading a client that he should perhaps be a little more rigorous with his preordained payment schedule. Now, normally I don’t like this – up in the lounge I can hear certain sounds that I find somewhat distasteful – bloodcurdling screams and the like. But this time, nothing. So I go down and ask Eduardo did he do the persuading with a feather or what but, no everything is as normal, right down to the usual amount of blood. Only difference was the music – Eduardo has been listening to some English electronic stuff called breakbeat – turns out it really muffles the screaming, so, mi amigo, I would recommend that. There’s obviously some weird kind of psycho-acoustic masking going on, but hey, you can’t argue with results right?? There are some guys called los gordos Plump Djs I think – try System Addict. Good name boys, maybe we could do some business, heh.
